The first kayak was now known as Intuits by Arctic residents thousands of years ago. These early indigenous people, formerly known as Eskimos, lived in Greenland, Russia, the northeast corner of Alaska and the highest in Canada. Early Eskimos used driftwood to make kayaks, and early kayaks were wrapped in seals. Early kayaks could barely fill the sealed airbag. These early kayaks were used for hunting and fishing in the summer. "Kayaking" literally means "hunter's boat."

Early kayaking designs vary according to the specific needs of the residents of the specific area. For example, early kayaks designed around residents of the Bering Straight created a wider, shorter kayaking. This kayaking design provides large-area storage games and supplies, and is more stable on rough water than the longer, slender kayaks designed in Aleuts. Kayaks are designed to stand upright in rough waters, and the design of the kayaks allows the kayaking users to be correct themselves, which would prove deadly by open means if transferred from rough, cold waters.

The Europeans finally discovered the versatility of kayaking, once the design of the kayak was designed by Europeans. In 1905, the German inventor Hans Klepper finally purchased a folding canvas kayaking design from a German student. He called this kayak "a boat." Klepper began selling this early version of the folding kayaking, which was once used for sports and kayaking for the hunting of indigenous people.

In 1936, the canoeing became part of the Berlin Olympics. Kayak was used for an event called "Popular Water Race". Kayaking clubs have spread throughout Europe, and kayaking has become more popular over time.

The 1950s brought the development of fiberglass kayaks, and a company called Valley Products began producing the first fiberglass kayaking. This fiberglass kayaking is called "Anas Kuta". Valley Products continues to design another kayaking called "Nordkapp." This mode can handle more cargo while maintaining compactness and maneuverability. Like the early design of the Eskimo's kayak, modern kayaking designers also design kayaks based on the needs and preferences of the area.

In the 1980s, plastic kayaking was introduced, and the kayak continued to be light, sturdy and versatile. There are now several types of kayaking designs for a variety of materials for a variety of sporting events. Those who like kayaking have more choices than ever before.
